چکیده

Geopolymers and other alkali-activated materials were investigated in detail as alternatives to ordinary Portland cement because of their reduced CO2 emissions, high (radionuclide) binding capacities, low permeabilities. The last two properties make them potential for the immobilization several types chemical waste. In this context, direct liquid waste streams would be a useful application. This study aimed develop geopolymers with water-to-binder ratios, but good mechanical strengths, while elucidating parameters that dictate strengths. Three metakaolin geopolymer recipes cast cured 28 days, after which mineralogy, microstructures determined. results show it is possible attain acceptable strengths at ratios vary from 0.75 0.95, significant increase ratio 0.55 commonly used literature. It was found most important parameter governs strength dilution activating solution, represented by H2O/Na2O ratio, microstructure benefit SiO2/Al2O3 ratio.

Study of Metakaolin-Based Geopolymer with Addition of Polymer Admixtures

In the present work, metakaolin-based geopolymer including different polymer admixtures was studied. Different types of commercial polymer admixtures VINNAPAS® and polyethylene glycol of different relative molecular weight were used as polymer admixtures. The main objective of this work is to investigate the influence of different types of admixtures on the properties of metakaolin-based geopol...

Performance Evaluation and Microstructure Characterization of Metakaolin-Based Geopolymer Containing Oil Palm Ash

This study reports on the microstructure, compressive strength, and drying shrinkage of metakaolin (MK) based geopolymers produced by partially replacing MK by oil palm ash (OPA). The OPA was used as raw material producing different molar ratios of SiO₂/Al₂O₃ and CaO/SiO₂. The geopolymer samples were cured at 80°C for 1, 2, or 4 hours and kept at ambient temperature until testing. The compressi...

Effects of Nano-SiO2 on Setting Time and Compressive Strength of Alkali- activated Metakaolin-based Geopolymer

This study presents a discussion on the effects of different solid-to-liquid (S/L) ratios (0.97 to 1.19) and nanoSiO2 (NS) percentages (0% to 3%) on some properties of metakaolin (MK)-based geopolymers. The setting time and compressive strength were investigated. Mercury intrusion porosimetry, fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy were used to determine the m...

Application-Oriented Chemical Optimization of a Metakaolin Based Geopolymer

In this study the development of a metakaolin based geopolymeric mortar to be used as bonding matrix for external strengthening of reinforced concrete beams is reported. Four geopolymer formulations have been obtained by varying the composition of the activating solution in terms of SiO₂/Na₂O ratio. The obtained samples have been characterized from a structural, microstructural and mechanical p...
